How to calculate overtime pay

  1. Find your overtime rate: hourly rate × 1.5. At $20 an hour, overtime is $30 an hour.
  2. Find your overtime hours: total hours minus 40. 45 hours is 5 overtime hours.
  3. Regular pay: 40 × $20 = $800.
  4. Overtime pay: 5 × $30 = $150.
  5. Total: $800 + $150 = $950 before taxes.
