How to convert minutes to decimal hours

Divide the minutes by 60, then add the whole hours. For example, 7 hours 45 minutes is 7 + (45 ÷ 60) = 7.75 hours.

To go the other way, multiply the decimal part by 60. 7.75 hours is 7 hours and 0.75 × 60 = 45 minutes.

Payroll systems use decimal hours because they are easy to multiply by a pay rate: 7.75 hours × $20 = $155.
